Colour Scrapbook
I shoot colour less frequently than black and white film but I enjoy it no less, just differently. Music is constantly in my head when I shoot. Working in colour conjures a very different inner tune than I am used to. If working in black and white makes a virtue of restraint, working in colour permits me to revel in finding and amplifying sheer beauty.
Unlike with black and white, I often approach colour work with little planning and few expectations. I am more reactive in the way that I find and manipulate images, my only goal being to compose and expose everything appropriately for colour film. Music returns to my mind even louder when I review the processed film, and I can finally shape the images in the edit.
