Summer of
Chaos zine
Slices of England from May to September 2022
War in Europe, global economic decline, service strikes, goods shortages, unpayable bills, punishing heat, and a callous, largely absent government in Britain. Such was the backdrop to Summer 2022.
Between England’s revels for the 70th anniversary of the Queen’s coronation and its loss of that very same figurehead, three months later, the world spun at irregular speeds and irrational angles. And the only sure thing seemed to be that everything would be worse tomorrow.
To make sense of the calamities that bore down on the world I photographed the here and now...
It was a combination of chance and percolating nationwide anxiety that led me to document Summer 2022 so much more thoroughly than any previous period in my life. At the end of it, I found myself with the basis for my second photo zine: an epic in the format of a tabloid newspaper.
The 64-page tabloids, containing 81 photographs, were printed in June 2022 in a run of 50 signed copies.
